About
Hi! I am currently a senior machine learning engineer at Apple working on entity linking, thread disentanglement, and question answering.
I graduated with a Master’s Degree from UChicago working on data systems with Aaron Elmore
and did my undergraduate at UC Berkeley working on data systems at RISE lab.
In my free time, I like to race triathlons (USA Triathlon ranking), create ceramics, and read fun books (my goodreads).
Projects
Apple
- Safari Highlights and other features that were apart of Apple Intelligence.
- Leading efforts for the entity linking for all of Knowledge within Apple.
- Primary on-call during all high profile events (Ocars, Grammy’s, and 2024 Elections) for entity linking pipeline.
Data Systems
- Maintainer of Modin, a library that parallelizes Pandas with one-line code change (paper)
- Developed incremental batch processing to build data systems more performant than lambda architecture by 6x over state-of-the-art (paper)
- Developed cost-based optimizations that improved SparkSQL above state-of-the-art by 2x (paper)
MISC
- Analyzed Roman Imperial coinage to show the origin of the “radiate crown” (paper)
- Proved that existing methods for analyzing part worths of products can be up to 40% off
- Showed the existence of the 25th solar cycle by analyzing magnetograms (blog post)
